After self-releasing his song “Body” in 2020 amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic, Jordan’s message of self-love quickly resonated with both his followers and new audiences alike.
Using “Body” as a springboard to his newfound audience, Suaste began utilizing TikTok more-and-more during both the height of COVID and a personal emotional low as a means of simply recording and sharing songs he’d been working on.
“My whole life kind of exploded”, he laughs, as users garnered an immediate interest in Suaste’s deeply personal lyrics and vulnerability. Through hard-work and perseverance, Suaste continued to ride some rarified social media algorithm waves as he routinely shared his music and life journey online, and practically blew up overnight. Today, Suaste’s followers are up to 630,000 on TikTok and over 264,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Shortly after “Body” had its online viral moment, Suaste moved on his own from his hometown near Salt Lake City to the bustling city of Los Angeles.
Once in LA, Suaste’s minimalist and lyrically sincere track “If the World Ended Tonight” was properly placed into the Netflix’s popular indie-drama To All The Boys: Always and Forever, which brought his profile up yet another rung as more-and-more new and young music fans discovered him for the first time. Suaste was elated to have his music encapsulated in conjunction with visual storytelling. “It’s a really great way to connect and make emotional things even more emotional”, says Suaste.
With an absolute dreamy visual and musical aesthetic, Suaste’s vision and commanding presence as an artist emerges complete with his beautiful lyrical message in his latest single “love who you want to” via Position Music. “Say what we wanna say, do what we wanna do, be who we wanna be, love who we want to”, the track’s anthemic and infectious chorus boldly encourages his listeners to embrace the freedom to be your authentic self.
“Love Who You Want To” officially kicks off suaste’s debut ep entitled maybe i already am. A project that thoughtfully reflects on the essence of self-love; not being hard on yourself for past disappointments, nor dwelling in dissatisfaction of who you think you should already be. “This whole project is about me realizing that maybe I already am special”, he asserts. “Maybe I don’t need to keep longing to be special, because maybe I already am, you know? Maybe I just have to love the parts of me that are.”
