Ally Evenson is a scary little songwriter, and she's also one of the most exciting indie-alternative artists breaking in the LA scene right now. Released by the Detroit-based Atlantic Records imprint Assemble Sound in November 2024, Evenson’s debut album BLUE SUPER LOVE explores supersized feelings in songs that pair bratty pop melodies with overblown textures in a way that places her on some strange and beautiful island between Radiohead, Gracie Abrams, Chappell Roan, and Imogen Heap. The album is exuberant & intoxicating, punctuated by huge choruses & soaring synths, and it is introspective & self-annihilating, with elusive vocals & intimate guitar. It’s a coming of age LP from an artist who’s both terrified and reverent of her age (27). After giving it a highly complimentary 7.0 rating, Pitchfork described BLUE SUPER LOVE as "orgasmic-in-the-way-that-a-female-praying-mantis-devouring-its-mate-is-orgasmic", which feels like high praise to us. The album also earned her a spot on Pigeons & Planes coveted 2025 “Artists To Watch” list, as well as the cover of Spotify’s LOREM playlist. Evenson, a Detroit native who played guitar across the US and Europe in Chloe Moriondo's band, has already toured in support of The Japanese House and Band of Horses, and opened 2025 on the road with fellow indie standout Wallice. She’s currently living in LA and writing her next album, hopelessly searching for the impossible balance between making art and posting tik toks.
