“Inspired by the late-’70s and early-’80s era that birthed post-punk and post-disco — and seemingly a fair portion of the like-minded DFA label roster, from LCD Soundsystem to Holy Gohst! — De Lux is a duo consisting of Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco. Mixing vintage dance grooves with similarly time-tested synthesizer sounds, De Lux make dance music that feels organic while steeped in electronics, as the vocals and lyrics contribute an idiosyncratic warmth. Though the duo was still finding their voice on their debut, 2014’s Voyage, they strengthened their music as well as their lyrical stance on 2018’s More Disco Songs About Love, and they experimented with a more intuitive production style for 2022’s Do You Need a Release?, recorded live to tape with their road band helping out.
Based in Los Angeles, Guerin and Franco debuted in late 2013 with a five-track EP released through a partnership with Scion AV. Led by “Better at Making Time,” the EP also contained a remix by Visitors (aka Sal Principato of Liquid Liquid and Dennis Kane). In April 2014, De Lux released their debut album, Voyage, on Innovative Leisure. The set contained several new songs, along with “Better at Making Time” and another EP highlight, “Love Is a Phase.” Just over a year later, the duo returned with Generation, a darker set of songs influenced by the music of ESG and Can and the uninhibited lyrics of Karen Finley. With a renewed focus on reliable beats and vocal melody, More Disco Songs About Love followed in early 2018, also on Innovative Leisure. De Lux changed up their working methods for their fourth album, 2022’s Do You Need a Release? Rather than isolating themselves in their work space and handling all the instrumentation themselves, Guerin and Franco chose to record live in the studio with their touring band backing them up, giving the material a more organic sound that boosted the pop accents of the music while adding the tension and excitement of a stage performance. Do You Need a Release? was released by Innovative Leisure in September 2022.”
McKenna Esteb
McKenna grew up in Snoqualmie WA, where her love for music began, performing in talent shows, at coffee shops and restaurant around the greater Seattle area. Throughout her career she has called both Austin, TX and Boise, ID (where she currently resides) home.
Her vocal style is heavily influenced by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Amy Winehouse. The roots of her music have soul and funk influences mixed into a nice cocktail of pop/modern rock. With songs ranging from “cry in the bathtub w/ a pint of Ben & Jerry’s” to “10 lb’s of sass in a 5 lb bag” she is guaranteed to keep her music vulnerable, fun & keep you on your toes.
Chipped Nail Polish
Chipped Nail Polish started with an electric ukulele and a bad manicure. Jill Sullivan, the mastermind behind it all, launched the project several years ago while studying at the University of Oregon. Immersed in the school’s vibrant DIY music scene, she emerged not only with an EP, but also with a close-knit community of like-minded musicians.
For years, the band was based in Portland, OR, built around an evolving mix of friends Sullivan met throughout the Oregon music scene. The ethos of Chipped Nail Polish has always been rooted in community and connection, with live shows filled with audience participation, silly jokes, and unexpectedly tender moments.
Now in a more nomadic chapter, Sullivan has left behind her Portland home for the time being. She’s traveling light, with just a few belongings—including a tiny 3D-printed ukulele. In the quiet stretches between cities and borrowed spaces, she found time for solitude and reflection. During that period, she wrote her first full-length album: a collection of memories, personal reckonings, and hopeful glimpses of what’s ahead.
Chipped Nail Polish draws from indie rock, lo-fi pop, and surf punk, blending jagged energy with a softer edge. The songs are raw and personal, shaped by sharp lyrics, emotional honesty, and an understated sense of humor.
The debut album, After Ankeny, arrives in September 2025, marking a new era of change, movement, and the bittersweet process of growing into yourself.
Hudson Powder Company
Hudson Powder Company was formed in 2023, when our frontman Cooper Lowry returned home to the Treasure Valley after an extended period of time “roughing it” in Western Montana. Searching for a backing band, Mr. Lowry wisely recruited Alexis Galvan (drums; percussion), Ricky Jones (bass guitar; backing vocals), and Doug Rudeen (guitar). What do we sound like? Well imagine a goth rock band or a post-rock band had …carnal relations…with a country/americana/”red dirt” band, and their offspring somehow managed to create music that was actually ✨good✨. You might not expect this to happen in real life (that would be a reasonable expectation). However, this is the essence of what Hudson Powder Company is. I guess what we’re really trying to do is create a sort of sound that’s somehow uniquely Idahoan or unique to the Inland Northwest. We feel that there isn’t really a genre of music that’s endemic to this area and we’d like to try and change that in some way. Whether we do that or not doesn’t really matter, it’s interesting to try.
