Payette

Payette is a Boise-based indie band led by producer/songwriter Ryan Elliott, who began honing his craft through DIY recordings in 2018. Featuring warm vocals and a unique blend of pop, rock, and psychedelia, their songs push the fluidity of genre into exciting new territories. Layered synthesizers, crunchy guitars, and slick bass grooves are common textures, but a constantly evolving sound defines every album they release. With introspective lyrics surrounding the nature of life and love in the confusing modern age, their music invites you to notice the good in your world and hold onto it tightly.

Rolling Eyes

One day, in the growing young city of Boise, Idaho, three friends from a local tavern’s open mic night got together to test their creative chemistry in the drummer’s garage. The drummer also invited a friend of his from high school who had taken interest in learning to play the bass. So there they were; Jason on drums, Cutler and Joe on guitars, and Taylor on the bass. They worked on covers from bands including Pixies, Pink Floyd, and Briston Maroney. They decided they wanted to play live, but it wasn’t clear who was going to sing. Taylor mentioned that his girlfriend was an experienced vocalist, and they invited her to sing Metric’s “Black Sheep”. She came to the next practice and performed for them, and they wouldn’t let Lillian leave after that. The songwriting process began, and with their melodies and Lillian’s lyrics, it all became very simple. Soon after, they lost Joe, their lead guitarist. Cutler convinced his coworker to come to a rehearsal and test the chemistry. Logan showed up at the next practice, and wasn’t allowed to leave after that.

And there they were; Lillian, Logan, Taylor, Jason, and Cutler. A classically trained vocalist, a gifted guitarist who was brought out of hiding from his bedroom, a metal head with a bass, a skilled and dedicated drummer, and an eclectic punk guitarist. Together they brought 5 different styles to the table to create a myriad of ideas for original songs. Their first EP, Tessellation, is the first of many creations to come.
