Emerging from Southern California’s hardcore scene in 1991, Strife wasted no time carving their name into the granite of 1990s heavy music. With a ferocious sound and a message of conviction, they quickly rose to the forefront of a new generation of hardcore. Their 1994 debut One Truth, released on Victory Records, captured the urgency of the era - equal parts raw energy and spiritual defiance - and became an instant classic, garnering both critical praise and impressive sales.

Strife backed it up where it mattered most: onstage. Relentless touring across the U.S. and beyond - culminating in a high-profile support slot on Sepultura’s Roots tour - cemented their reputation as a live powerhouse. But it was their 1997 sophomore effort In This Defiance that elevated them into something more than just a hardcore band. Blending the visceral edge of hardcore with the precision of metal, the album featured appearances from genre icons including Chino Moreno (Deftones), Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), and Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura). In This Defiance didn’t just push boundaries, it shattered them.

In 2001, the band returned with Angermeans, a bold departure that experimented with texture and tone outside the traditional confines of hardcore. It marked a transitional moment, both musically and personally, as Strife explored new territory without losing their core identity.

After a decade-long recording silence, Strife roared back in 2012 with Witness a Rebirth. Recorded in Brazil with longtime ally Iggor Cavalera on drums and produced by Nick Jett (Terror), the album was a thunderous return to form - sharp, focused, and unrelenting. Guest spots from Billy Graziadei (Biohazard), Scott Vogel (Terror), and Marc Rizzo (Soulfly) only added to the album’s explosive weight. The record reminded fans and critics alike why Strife had always stood a cut above their peers: integrity, intensity, and a refusal to compromise.

In 2015, Strife followed up with Incision, a blistering EP released on WAR Records - the label founded by guitarist Andrew Kline. Featuring new material that captured the band’s trademark ferocity with a sharpened edge, Incision reaffirmed Strife’s status as a band that could evolve without ever diluting their message.

Now decades deep into their career, Strife continues to deliver their brand of crushing, spiritually charged hardcore on stages around the world. With each live performance, they reaffirm their legacy - not just as pioneers, but as torchbearers for a genre that still burns bright.
