In 2018, a 16 year old Clark Gray had his sights on becoming a sound tech. It seemed to bridge a gap between something he was passionate about while still appearing to be a “safe” job. In 2020, the illusion of anything ever really being safe was destroyed when the whole damn world shut down. After fucking up friendships and his high school band, Clark began his “real life” doing bullshit warehouse and factory jobs. When he was home, he was experimenting with looper pedals and other things to replicate the sound of a band that he felt like he could no longer have, often recording bass lines of R.M.F.C. and Descendents songs, and playing along to them on drums.

The first few years of Sex Mex were very unstable. It see sawed from the desire to have a band, to the desire to get rid of everybody in a moments notice. The only solution was to have the band without having a band. No sound compromise. No people compromise. A completely digital band made up of digital Clark’s. At the end of the day, Sex Mex is just an extension of Clark. The very loud, obnoxious extension of an otherwise, shy, quiet person.

Plum Vision

Plum Vision is an all girl punk/alternative rock trio from Boise, ID, composed of Kiyah Amanie, Ella Thurston, and Megan Miller.

With aggressive yet playful energy that harkens back to groups from The Runaways to Hole, Plum Vision’s sound is the best of ‘90s Seattle riot grrrl punk with a heavy dose of late ‘70s psych rock.

Seamlessly balancing between sweet-voiced melodies and hard-hitting power cords, Plum Vision does not shy away from big feelings and sucker punch lyrics that cut to the bone.

Blood Cannery

“Just when you think it’s all about to careen off the tracks something pulls it all back together, a total exercise in tension” -Knuckles On Stun

“This is stoner rock where feedback gleams like a mirror-based art installation in broad daylight.” – see/saw

“Imagine someone trapped early PiL in a tumble dryer and hit record. Lo-fi and wobbly” – Aidmoozic

Nuppeppo

Nuppeppo

Formed in early 2020, Nuppeppo is a Boise 4-piece hellbent on getting ugly, noisy, and weird. Drawing from Devo, Big Black, Thou, and Lightning Bolt, Nuppeppo removes genre from the equation to forge an unholy blade of sound that is all their own. Shrieks and manic ramblings of death and decay pierce through pummeling drums, monolithic bass, squealing guitar, and strangled electronics to form the reeking mass that is Nuppeppo.
