SS REINER FINAL 1

On Reside, their fourth LP, SUMMER SALT continue the push and pull between where they’ve been and where they’re going, honoring the sun-soaked charm that won them their devoted fanbase while exploring new creative terrain.

While the 13-track Reside carries the same effortlessly beautiful melodies, delicate introspection and hazy instrumentation that have colored albums like 2021’s Sequoia Moon and 2023’s Campanita, the process of constructing the songs was quite literally flipped on its head this time around, with drummer/multi-instrumentalist Eugene Chung handling the bulk of the songwriting duties, later leaning on his bandmates (frontman Matthew Terry and multi-instrumentalists Winston Triolo and Anthony Barnett) to bring his ideas to life.

The result is an album that carries Summer Salt’s hallmark aesthetic, a swirl of surf pop, bossa nova and retro indie that evokes long coastal drives and the slow exposure of Polaroid photos on scorching summer afternoons while offering new emotional textures and lyrical depth. Even after its final notes fade, Reside lingers, the sort of feelings that stick with you after the sun has set, the summer has slipped away, and the golden haze of memory begins to clear. In those quiet, reflective moments, Summer Salt’s music hums: familiar and full of feeling. It’s a gentle reminder of the past and a nudge toward the future, but also the stillness of the now. You’ll get where you’re going eventually. Until then, be where you are.

Boyscott

Punctuating wistful, daydreamy indie rock with surfy guitar hooks, Boyscott took shape in college dorm rooms and grew into a fully formed band. The loose collective that made up the project completed their whimsically drawn 2015 debut Goose Bumps before ever playing live. Boyscott began in 2015 as an outlet for singer/songwriter Scott Hermo’s recording experiments while he was attending college in Nashville. Hermo recorded in his dorm room and sometimes enlisted friends to help flesh out his light and breezy indie tunes. Fellow schoolmates and musicians Emma Willer, Tiger Adams, John Lewandowski and Noah Miller joined him to bring a live energy to Hermo’s recordings and together, the five musicians completed debut album Goose Bumps and self-released it in late 2015. When Boyscott began playing live, school commitments kept a solid lineup from forming, but Hermo enlisted a rotating cast of friends and musicians to play shows and go on tours. The band’s acclaim grew organically through consistent touring and their album, which caught on in a grassroots fashion. A physical release of Goose Bumps arrived in 2019 as a joint release from Top Shelf Records and Babe City Records. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi

Wabie

WABIE (pronounced Wah-Bee) hails from the small town of Palos Verdes, located in LA county. After his parents tried and failed to introduce him to every sport under the sun, Wabie found his true calling in playing the guitar. In high school, he started a band with his friends that ended up selling out popular venues such as the school talent show, and the drummer’s garage.
Once he and his band mates all left for college, Wabie started producing his music all alone in a lil stinky 3 person dorm room, and has been releasing music on his own since!
What’s next for this lil Filipino boy? Will he achieve his dream of playing shows for someone other than his mom? Will he ever be able to order a burger with pickles on it?? Stick around, and maybe you’ll find out!!
